This sweet little girl melted my heart.
When I first started building my portfolio the E family was one of the first brave souls to do a full family session with me. I never forgot how they took a chance on some new girl with a camera. Me. I got to know them a little bit that day and watched as the talked to each other, how they interacted, how their was a bond there that was different. Through the session they shared with me how their daddy was in the military and away for long stretches at a time. How the moments they had together were that much more precious because you never know when he will get called back to fight for our country. I remembering leaving there that day full of gratitude for him and all who serve our country.
Fast forward a few years, through a house move, a number change and a new business branding, and somehow she found me still
She believes, like I do, that if something is meant to be it will happen. Just like that. Simple really when you think about it. You are exactly where you are supposed to be at that very moment. I could get all deep on you now, but I will spare you from that …
During the session her mom had told me that her husband was deployed again for a year overseas, and that he was going to surprise her daughters by coming home for two weeks to celebrate Little Miss A communion. I cried. Yup, right there in the middle of the church. I got all teary eyed imagining that awesome moment of seeing their daddy’s face again. Can you tell Im a daddy’s girl? I think she might be too…
I had asked her to close her eyes and think about something that makes her happy, that makes her heart feel like its going to explode from so much love.
When she opened her eyes.. I had to ask…
She said …”That was easy… I thought about my daddy.”
A growing belly, a glowing momma to be and a hysterical father. All that makes for a pretty great maternity session
Throw in a stop at starbucks between locations and a fabulous sunset and you just might have the perfect afternoon.

I just love this one… He looks so happy, and full of anticipation to meet his baby girl.. Oh yes… its a girl!

Thats just a teaser for now.. More to come soon
I’ve had some emails recently of friends and clients asking me why I haven’t blogged in a long time. Yes, I post occasional sneak peeks, but blogged? Not so much.. Was it because I had nothing to say. Not a chance. If you know me you know I have plenty to say. Was it because I had no sessions, not really, although the winter is slow I have kept busy. Was it because I tried to keep my personal life and my personal thoughts away from my business side? Maybe a little. Although I swear if you ask me that question this week I’d say its because of a nasty seven letter word. LAUNDRY! Some days I just cant keep up on it, and on the rare days It’s all done, all washed and all put away I feel like a kid who just climbed the biggest tree and is sitting on that top branch looking down at my accomplishment. I’ve even been known to say to my kids on that rare day, no honey don’t put that in the basket it’s not dirty. Only to see their eyes get big and a look of expression on their face as if to say “Are you freaking kidding me? this coming from the mom who says, no I’m sorry I mean the mom who actually shrieks, you CAN’T wear THAT to school you wore that already this week! I know I know… Not my best mommy moment, but who dosen’t love an empty laundry basket? Even if that precious moment only lasts five whole minutes.
I do remember a time in my life where every single piece of clothing I bought for the kids was hung on hangers, all the same color, well that part is still true. If an occasional blue hanger gets in my daughters closet or an occasional white hanger is in my sons closet I do walk it right back to where it belongs. But I don’t color coordinate the clothes in the closet anymore, some things you just need to let go.
Of course I still buy clothes for my kids, sometimes I buy them for other people too. Including one of my favorite little people about to come into this world.
After years of her mom laughing at my trials and tribulations with laundry… How could I not be one of the first to start her laundry pile?
Pretty fitting don’t you think?
Little Mr. blue eyes…. This kid melts me. He has since he was born and we did his newborn session… So happy I get to see him grow, this image is from his baptism session and soon we will be doing his six month session too!
He is is our baby plan which is newborn, six month and smash the cake session… The baptism session was a little petite session his mom and dad added on…. For more info on our baby plan please visit our website at www.michelekats.com
